Immortality and Reincarnation – Alexandra David-Neel
During my stay in Lhasa there was talk of a deslog. It concerned a man known to have never left his own village. None of his close relations, nor the people he frequented, had ever travelled. They were all illiterate.
This man, awakening after several days of lethargy, recounted how he had gone to Mongolia and was present at a learned discussion between lamas. The man described the locations where he found himself and repeated entire phrases of the conversations he had witnessed, of which he understood nothing.
The subjects under discussion were totally alien to him and considerably exceeded his comprehension. He had grasped nothing but the sound of the words; he didn’t even doubt that the Mongolian lamas were using a literary Tibetan language that plays, for the adepts of this discipline, the same role Latin once did for Europeans.
I haven’t seen this man personally, but serious individuals worthy of respect accepted the authenticity of this account. Inquiries revealed that the discussion recorded by the man did indeed take place during an assemblage of lamas.
