Symbols - What does heaven look like

Tulip

The tulip takes on the symbolism of all flowers.  The flower head is the crown chakra, the stamen in the centre is the energy flowing from or to the centre of the crown and the stem is the spine.

The tulip has added significance because it is ‘powered’ as it were by a bulb.  In many exercises designed to promote spiritual experience, the reproductive organs are used as the generators of energy and this energy is then directed up the spine to promote a spiritual experience – the kundalini experience.  The bulb [sexual organs]  with its roots [meridians] in the earth [Earth] is thus an ideal symbol for this form of experience.

The tulip’s shape also shares the symbolism of the cup as the receiver of spiritual input.  There is thus multiple symbolism in use here, all of it however is consistent.

The tulip was at one time greatly loved by the Persians because it so resembled the cup.

The Rubaiyat of Omar Khaiyyam
As then the Tulip for her morning sup
Of heavenly vintage from the soil looks up
Do you devoutly do the like, till Heav'n
To Earth invert you – like an empty cup
