Most of the accounts given by the religious are useless because they use their belief system to interpret and describe the results or bend the results.
Furthermore as a group they contain a very very large number of what can only be described kindly as the deluded and over imaginative, or unkindly as charlatans. It does not take much comparative analysis with genuine accounts to see that many accounts are made up fiction.
But there are genuine ones amongst them and what marks all of them out is that they were either very ill – some accounts are near death experiences – or overwhelmed by negative emotion - fear, pain, angst, humiliation – so carefully chosen some were worth including.
