Type of Spiritual Experience

Background

He is reading the doctor's mind but has two sorts of perceptions to contend with - one of the actual sentence and the other of the imagined scene, which makes it harder for him.

A description of the experience

Mary Rose Barrington, Ian Stevenson and Zofia Weaver, A World in a Grain of Sand: The Clairvoyance of Stefan Ossowiecki,  2005.
Experiment 9: 27th September, at 1800 hours, at Prince Lubomirski’s.

I gave M. Ossowiecki the second of the two letters that I had prepared, and of which I therefore knew the contents, which were:

An elephant, which was battling in the Ganges, was attacked by a crocodile, which bit off its trunk.

To see if my conscious thought could influence M. Ossowiecki’s clairvoyance I made a strenuous effort to imagine the scene described. The result was just the opposite. M. Ossowiecki experienced obvious difficulty: he walked up and down, very agitated, and it was only after about 20 minutes that he said:

I have the impression that I am in a zoological garden. There is a struggle. I see a big animal. It's an elephant. Is this elephant not in the water? I see it swimming in the water. There is an incident to do with its trunk. I see blood."

At that point M. Ossowiecki, very fatigued and agitated, asks me, "Is there anything else?"

I reply, "It's very good, but it's not complete." M. Ossowiecki cries, "Wait! Isn't it wounded in the trunk?" I say, "Very good!" and I add, "You said that there was a struggle, that's very good." M. Ossowiecki interrupted me and exclaimed, "Yes, with a crocodile!"
