I woke in the morning and drifted back to light sleep. ln my mind I could feel my body rocking to and fro, and a strange tingling sensation filled me. The tingling sensation was extremely pleasant, and I persisted rocking in my mind.
At some point I became aware that I could "see" in the room and tried to pull away from my body. I don't know why I felt that I could escape from my body, but it seemed logical at the time. I felt as if I was stuck to myself, and it took a great deal of energy to pull away. Eventually I was free of my body and turned to see my "real" body still in bed.
The thought of my awareness of not being in my body was terrifying, and I thought I might have died. My fear slammed me back into my body as I tried to call to my husband, who was in the house getting ready for work. My body felt like it was out of sync with itself and seemed to be vibrating out of control, which increased my fear. It felt like I was riding in the back of a pickup truck on one of those washboard dirt roads.
Finally I awoke. I no longer felt any of the fear. And that began my search for more information on OBEs.
