A description of the experience

Dr Karlis Osis From Out of body experiences   - David Black

Osis was born on a farm in Riga, Latvia, the day after Christmas 1917.  His father, a strict rationalist, did not believe in any superstitions, ancient or modern; there was no talk in the family about paranormal phenomena.

As a child Osis contracted tuberculosis and was bedridden at the same time an old aunt who had suffered a stroke lay dying at the other end of their farmhouse.  One day Osis, a feverish fifteen, lay resting when he suddenly saw his room come alive with light.

‘Not a light you could read  a paper by’ he said ‘but that’s the best way to describe it.  The light was in me too.  I’d never experienced anything like it.  I was amazed and filled with great joy.  I couldn’t understand why I was so happy.  The joy had a quality I’d never felt before.  And then somebody walked into the room and said

‘Auntie just died’
