Common steps and sub-activities

Champissage

Champissage is also known as Indian head massage and is used in Hindu and ayurvedic medicine [Champissage itself is a trademarked term].

In champissage, the head, neck and face are massaged with the purpose of ‘manipulating energy channels’ - meridians. The goal is to clear blocks in these ‘energy channels’ that cause a ‘build-up of negative energy’ that cause ailments. Thus the technique is used principally for healing.  Indian head massage was brought to the west by Narendra Mehta in the 1970s.
