Common steps and sub-activities

Shii Soei Ching (Marrow Brain Washing)

Marrow Brain Washing is used in Qigong.  The companion technique Muscle tendon changing (Yi Gin Ching) and Marrow Brain washing (Shii Soei Ching) are two techniques that have been used by Chinese Buddhist monks and Taoists for over a thousand years. There are three aims of Shii Soei Ching training in particular

  • To improve health and help promote  longer life
  • Improve martial arts capability
  • Enlightenment or Buddhahood

The technique involves sexual stimulation of the penis and testicles followed by promotion of the kunndalini experience.

The main goal of shii soei ching chi Kung is to lead the chi into the ‘marrow’ and then further on to the head, nourishing the brain and spirit (Shen)”

The sexual stimulation can be performed by yourself , on yourself, so there is no need for any second party intervention unless you want it!  It is the Buddhist and Taoist equivalent to Tantric sex, except that it seems to have been promoted as a more solitary pursuit by the Buddhists.  It doesn’t have to be, Taoists did it in pairs.

Shii Soei Ching  is the principle technique used for spiritual experience. Yi Gin Cheng training is principally the technique used to ‘generate the energy [Chi]’ used in Shii Soei Ching, as such the techniques and practises are in reality inseparable.

Muscle/Tendon Changing and Marrow/Brain Washing Chi Kung – Dr Yang, Jwing-Ming

… if you wish to reach a higher efficiency in your training, you should first complete some level of the Yi Gin Ching training before you start the Shii Soei Ching.  Although many people omit this first step and build up Chi solely by stimulating the sexual organs, their chi will not have sufficient foundation and they will achieve only limited success. The biggest problem with this "quick" approach is that these people have not learned to regulate their minds, which is an important result of Yi Gin Ching training, and when they stimulate their sexual organs they also increase their sexual desire.  The regulated mind is the main key in leading chi to the marrow and to the brain. If you start Shii soei ching training without the necessary self-control, you may be caught up in the world of sexual fantasy.

Far more information on this technique can be found in the two excellent books by Dr Jang Jwing-Ming,  one of which is The Root of Chinese Chi Kung and the other is  Muscle/Tendon Changing & Marrow/Brain washing Chi Kung.
