Common steps and sub-activities

Long distance cycling

One way in which people suffer from sleep deprivation coupled with the exhaustion of frenetic exercise – both mental and physical is through long distance cycling such as the Tour de France or the RAAM.

What marks out all these races is the long distances cycled, and the time pressure under which the participants are placed, which has a special place in being able to induce experiences, as the pressure is on the person not to stop and rest, but to simply keep on going and going and going. ………..

Although the track events have a record of inducing hallucinations, simply because the monotony of the track adds to the effect, cycling on roads [as opposed to mountain biking] can have a similar effect if the person spends his whole time looking down at the road [suppression of learning].
